Healthathon 2020

Reimagining healthcare for a billion Indians

As we speak, India is rolling out a work of public digital infrastructure called the National Health Stack. One of the components of this stack is the Personal Health Records (PHR) system.

At its core, the PHR system creates a common standard for managing and sharing health data, all with user consent. This system, which has already been announced by the Prime Minister, will change allow individuals to gain greater security and utility from their own data, and will transform the healthtech industry in India.

At the Healthathon 2020, we want to spread the word about the PHR system so that developers, entrepreneurs, investors, doctors, and other stakeholders from the public sector, private sector, and medical community can take part in this revolution in Indian healthtech,

Whether you are a programmer looking to build on top of the new PHR APIs or a business/medical student who wishes to come up with new business models and use cases for this technology, the Healthathon 2020 will be a great opportunity for you to learn about the PHR system while interacting with some of the best and brightest minds in the world of Indian healthtech.

At this event, participants can choose to compete in the Hackathon or the Ideathon. The Hackathon is a 4-week long event during which teams will build apps on top of the PHR infrastructure. The submission date for the Hackathon will be November 20th.

In contrast, the Ideathon is a 2-week long competition in which teams need to only submit a business plan to create a company or product using the PHR system. No programming is required. Like the Hackathon, the Ideathon will begin on 24th October, but the submission date is 2 weeks before the Hackathon, on November 6th.

Besides the Ideathon and Hackathon, there will be several masterclasses, panel discussions, mentorship sessions, and other events aimed at building a richer public conversation around the PHR system and India's digital healthcare infrastructure as a whole. To participate in these events, there is no sign-up required; public links to the events will be posted on the iSPIRT blog and Twitter accounts. This website is only for people wishing to register for the Ideathon or the Hackathon.

Participants can use this website to sign up for either of the two events. Further details will be provided after acceptance into the competition. For any doubts or queries, you can reach out to us at [email protected] or the @Product_Nation Twitter handle.
